Green Classroom Press Release
Growing Knowledge in a Green Way:
Intellidemia™ introduces green strategies for institutional usage
Troy, NY Nov 18, 2009 – Going 'green' has conventionally targeted our streets, homes, and offices, but recently it has found its way into a largely unassuming place: our schools. Intellidemia, an information technology company offering intelligent solutions for academia, has just launched their "Green Classroom" campaign targeting the reduction of resource waste and the introduction of computer-based learning platforms in the classroom.
Presented for the first time at the Capital District Educational Technology Group fall conference in Albany, NY, this green initiative raises awareness surrounding course delivery, identifying the worst offenders of paper waste in the classroom, including handouts, textbooks, syllabi, assignments, and examinations. In each arena, Intellidemia explores technology platforms and tools to help instructors teach and students learn more effectively while protecting the environment.
Capital District Educational Technology Group founder and professor at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Patricia Baia, believes deeply in the environmental impact of instructional technologies in the classroom. She notes:
"Sustainability on campuses is more important now than ever, and the classroom should not be forgotten. As instructional technologies become an increasingly embedded part of teaching, incorporating their green benefits will not only accelerate such adoption, but simultaneously create a more eco-friendly environment."
Intellidemia's Communications Specialist, William Johnson, adds to this by stating:
"Appreciating the 'green-side' of classroom technologies provides a wide array of benefits. As an example, the electronic textbook has clear advantages, such as portability and robust searching. Coupled with the green benefits of this technology, instructors will be more willing to take that 'first step', modifying their course practices and embracing more environmentally friendly platforms.”
