Intellidemia Advances Syllabus Management Releasing Three Major Upgrades
And you thought online syllabi couldn’t get any better.
Troy, NY April 4, 2011 - Intellidemia makes their clients’ suggestions a reality with three major upgrades to Concourse, the online syllabus solution. IT departments rest better knowing Concourse can easily integrate with their current systems. Colleges can now further benefit from distributing the management of syllabi across campuses, schools, and departments. These upgrades come wrapped in a more refined syllabus interface.
After mastering core authoring and sharing capability, Intellidemia made integration a top priority. Concourse can now easily interpret data from the Student Information System (SIS), giving colleges the ability to automate course and account creation as well as associate users with courses. SIS integration saves schools from the dreaded task of entering information manually. Additionally, with support from Webster University, Intellidemia has developed single sign-on tools allowing users to seamlessly flow through their system portal to access syllabi. Concourse also provides increased security with single sign-on as users no longer have to remember countless passwords nor re-enter their credentials multiple times.
Through their work with institutions that manage global academic structures, Intellidemia identified a need for distributing administrative duties. For Webster in particular, managing both the syllabi and the unique set of syllabi for each of their five schools across 108 campuses was extremely cumbersome and time consuming. Intellidemia dedicated three months to architecting, developing, testing, and extending permissions to solve this problem. With domain-based permissions, colleges are now able to effortlessly grant users abilities within their campuses, schools, departments, or a mix thereof.
"Upon request, two great enhancements were made to an already impressive syllabus management tool," stated Director, IT Information Services Terri Jones. "Integration allows students and instructors to click on Concourse in the portal and naturally be presented with their course syllabus. Concourse furthers the benefits of integration with administrative workflow which not only eliminated complex manual processes, but also ensures that the Webster experience models their existing business practices across each campus, school, department, and their 7,000 course sections."
In the midst of advancing Concourse, Intellidemia continued to raise the bar with their heralded interface by incorporating suggestions from users with a syllabus refresh. Now, Concourse even more closely mimics the Microsoft® Word experience, which makes creating beautiful syllabi a snap. At the core of the upgrade is an entirely new rendering engine making syllabi look as good online as they do in paper. Editing has been enhanced with a host of tools that make for easy table manipulation and presentation, improved printing, font selection, and sizing.
"We are impressed with the development and support Intellidemia provides; they stand out because they deliver a tool that is reliable, on time, and under budget," said Larry Haffner, CIO at Webster University.
Intellidemia continues to demonstrate their leadership and commitment in supporting schools with online syllabus management by taking the suggestions of instructors, IT, and administrators to the drawing board, turning ideas into solutions that work for the entire campus.
