Set the Tone for Student Success

What’s the purpose of a syllabus? Contract, course map, checklist for success? Or do students need more than that to succeed? Stephanie Speicher of Weber State University asks, “What if we used the syllabus as an opportunity to instill within each student a sense of belonging…to foster a deeper connection to the course, the instructor and other students?” She offers five strategies for creating a syllabus that does more than lay out a contract to enforce. Check out the original article below.

Don't Forget Adjuncts!

In 2021, 44% of courses nationwide were taught by adjunct faculty. The nature of adjunct employment can leave faculty in a position of having only a few days to prepare for a course - or, in the worst case, not knowing they are expected to teach a course at all, like the instructor in a recent article from the Chronicle of Higher Ed. While we might not be able to help with scheduling, Concourse does provide the tools you need to give adjunct faculty a head start. From syllabus templates to copy tools and the ability to share access to experienced faculty syllabi, we can help you keep adjunct faculty on course.

Real Stories. Real Impact.

There’s nothing we love more than sharing the stories of Concourse clients and the way our platform has benefited them. Our friends at Lake-Sumter State College are a great example. They chose Concourse primarily to improve the accessibility of their syllabi, but they got more than they ever expected: improvements in efficiency, student access, faculty compliance, and more. Read their story and others on our Case Studies page - and imagine what your institution could do with Concourse.

We told you last month about our new webinar series - a way to learn more about Concourse from both our team and our advocates at our partner institutions. We have a great series planned so we can connect without you ever stepping foot off your campus. But we also have several events coming up that we’ll be attending, giving us the opportunity to meet face to face! Find out more on our Events page - and add some time with Concourse to your calendar!
